Shooting Sports programs are the fastest growing 4-H program nationally and we have seen tremendous growth in our state’s program over the past three years.

Due to the tremendous growth of this program and its day-to-day operational needs we will be hiring a part-time Extension Assistant to provide leadership for the NC 4-H Shooting sports Program. *Below is an exert of the position description – posted on the NC State University website.  We are extremely excited to be afforded the opportunity to fill this position and know that it will be a great asset to the 4-H & FCS Program Team.


The Extension Assistant will provide coordination and competent management for the NC 4-H Shooting Sports Program. The incumbent will assist in the development of educational resources supporting positive 4-H youth development in all aspects of the NC 4-H Shooting Sports Program, deliver training programs to certify volunteer coaches in all disciplines of the National 4-H Shooting Sports Program with an emphasis on safety and risk management and serve as liaisons with National 4-H Shooting Sports programs in other state 4-H programs and external agencies/companies with interest in the NC 4-H Shooting Sports Program. This individual will be responsible for:

  • Maintaining records, certification status and coordination of coaches, and the coordination of NC participation in any 4-H Shooting Sports events.
  • Assist in the development of NC 4-H Policy as it relates to NC 4-H Shooting Sports and ensure that information on the NC 4-H website is accurate and updated in a timely manner.
  • Coordinate statewide NC 4-H Shooting Sports events and activities and coordinate the facilitation of these events at NC 4-H camps and other locations that host NC 4-H Shooting Sports events.
  • Coordinate fund development activities with NC 4-H Foundation staff and be responsible for the management of funds and collection of fees associated with NC 4-H Shooting Sports.

This will be a three-year term position, with possible renewal depending on funding.
