What, When & Where:   Judges needed for the upcoming FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Regional Qualifying Tournament, held at the Blue Ridge Community College on Saturday, November 9, 2013. This year’s theme is “Nature’s Furry.”

What you get:   Breakfast, lunch and snacks as well as training and a fun day with students ages 9 to 14. You will see LEGO robots in action, hear about student research projects concerning potential environmental catastrophes citizens may encounter along with possible ways to prepare for and reduce any impacts, and watch teamwork in action.

Judges are needed for two areas – Teamwork/Core Values and Project:  Teamwork/Core Values Judges spend 10 minutes with up to 12 teams watching how they tackle a problem together. With a fast-paced Q&A, judges get a unique snapshot into how teams work as teams.

Project Judges watch a 5 minute prepared presentation or skit followed by 5 minutes of Q&A. Judges will be amazed and inspired by the incredible research done by the students as they solve the challenges being experienced by our ageing population.

How you are trained:  2 hour training by WebEx.  Training dates – to be announced. These will be recorded so you can play them later if necessary.

Please plan to attend the entire day at the event on November 9! The public is invited to this event.
