We’ve got a professional development opportunity coming up that we’d love to share with you in case you’re interested in some FREE summer learning (and BBQ!) here at the Nature Center.

Thanks for supporting the WNC Nature Center!

Project Food Land & People Workshop
At the WNC Nature Center in Asheville, NC
in partnership with Buncombe Soil & Water Conservation District

Thursday, August 8, 2013, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Join us for a fun-filled professional development opportunity open to teachers, non-formal educators, and anyone interested in helping students build strong connections between food, land, and people!

Project Food, Land & People is a national science and social sciences based curriculum for grades PreK-12 that promotes approaches to learning to help people better understand the interrelationships among agriculture, the environment and people.

The 55 hands-on, interdisciplinary lessons cover subjects from environmental science and stewardship, to human populations, health, and land use issues. Come on out for indoor and outdoor activities, and even spend some time exploring our educational farm!

Workshop participants will receive a copy of the FLP “Resources for Learning” Curriculum Guide to take home. Workshop qualifies for NC EE Criteria I Credit and CEU’s.

In addition to all the above, the workshop will include a BBQ lunch, snacks, and entry to explore the WNC Nature Center on your own at the end of the workshop. A $15 check is needed to reserve your space, but checks will be returned on attendance, making the entire workshop experience completely FREE!
