The Little Mountaineer Scholarship was set up by the Western North Carolina Holstein Club to encourage youth to seek further education in dairy science and/or agriculture sciences. Each year, students have the opportunity to apply for a $1,500 scholarship which is awarded and is payable over three years in $500 increments providing the student maintains a 2.0 GPA.
ELIGIBILITY: High school graduates who are residents of the following 21 counties: Avery, Buncombe, Burke, Caldwell, Cherokee, Clay, Cleveland, Graham, Haywood, Henderson, Jackson, Macon, Madison, McDowell, Mitchell, Polk, Rutherford, Swain, Transylvania, Watauga and Yancey.
SELECTION: The Scholarships will be awarded giving priority to (1) dairy youth or those pursuing an education in the dairy industry, (2) agriculture youth or those pursuing an education in the agriculture industry, (3) rural youth or those pursuing an education to work in a rural environment.
