Results from the State 4-H Horticulture Judging Contest

The Buncombe County 4-H Horticulture Judging Team did a great job representing the county at the State 4-H judging contest which was held in Raleigh, NC on July 18th.  The junior team (Aaron Haynes, Ta’von Tinsley, and Jenna Cagle) placed second overall and the senior team (Justine Haynes and 4-Hers from other counties) placed third overall.  We also want to recognize Sulema Haynes who was the high scoring novice individual and Nina Haynes who was the second place novice individual.  Special recognition was given to Tyler Christopher and Janice Ender for participation in the contest.

Special thanks go out to Brandon Christopher who serves as the coach for the judging team.  He coordinates practices, shares his knowledge and expertise with team members, and gives his time to mentor our 4-H members interested in the horticulture judging project.

The horticulture judging team will begin practicing in the spring again to prepare for the 2012 state contest.  If you are interested in learning more about the team, please contact Holly Jordan at holly_jordan@ncsu.edu.
