OMK Yellow Ribbon Event – January 22, 2011

Buncombe County 4-H has been asked to be involved in working with the children of deployed military reservists at a function called the “Yellow Ribbon Event” in Asheville on Saturday, January 22, 2011.  During this event, the spouses of deployed reservists will attend trainings to help them prepare for the return of their loved ones back into their home.  While the parents attend these trainings, the children of the reservists will also attend trainings and activities to help them prepare as well.

We have been asked to provide volunteers (youth and adults) who can help the children with craft and educational activities between 7:30 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. the day of the event.  We will be working with approximately 30 youth between the ages of 5 and 18 who will be split into two rooms based on their ages.  We will need approximately 10-15 volunteers for the event.

If you are interested in volunteering for this worthwhile event, please contact Holly at (828) 255-5522 or holly_jordan@ncsu.edu for more details.  We had several volunteers help last year and hope that we can provide ample support this year as well.
