4-H Youth Livestock Program Updates

  • January 22, 2011– NC Junior Hereford Association will be hosting their annual Judging in January event at the NCSU Beef Educational Unit.  This livestock judging contest/clinic is open to youth of all ages and is a great introductory event for kids interested in participating in livestock judging events.  The specifics and online entry form will be posted early next week.
  • March 5-6, 2011– Eastern Carolina Showmanship Clinic will be held in Tarboro at the Eastern Carolina Ag and Education Center.  This event offers youth interested in showing livestock an opportunity to come and spend the weekend learning about nutrition, daily care, selection, and showmanship for sheep, swine, meat goats, or beef cattle.  We will have guest speakers who are experts in their field come to teach this event.  The entry form for this event will be posted on the 4-H Youth Livestock webpage.
  • March 19, 2011– The National Junior Swine Association will be hosting a boot camp for youth ages 8-12, that are interested in the swine industry. This event will be held at Virginia Tech and is open to all youth on the East Coast. A flyer with additional information for this event is attached.
