If you are a shooter in Rifle, shotgun or archery who thinks you have what it takes to represent our state in shooting sports, come and try out for the 2010 North Carolina national competition team. We will be sending shooters for shotgun, rifle and hopefully archery.
Each discipline covers three days of competition, to be held in Kerrville, Texas next June. Tryouts will be held in Millstone Saturday, October 30. We have so far sent 16 shooters to Nationals, and it is an experience of a lifetime. Participants have to be 14 by January 1st 2010 to be eligible.
Shotgunners have one day each of sporting clays, skeet and trap. Rifle is silhouettes, CMP round and NRA three position. Archery is Fifa, 1/2 round field and 30 3-D targets.
Information on rules/synopsis are found here:
Look under SYNOPSIS and open it in PDF and you will see what the event details are. Please notice that equipment is different than we use at the state shoot. Compound bows are single pin only, but a magnifying lens is allowed. Rifles may have (need) scopes for two events. Check out the photo albums and see how many NC shooters you can spot.
