Buncombe County’s 2010 Talent Showcase, Fashion Review, $20 Challenge and Craft Fair

Buncombe County’s 2010 Talent Showcase, Fashion Review, $20 Challenge and Craft Fair took place on Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Eliada Homes. It was a fun-filled day full of talented 4-H’ers, and we are very thankful to Eliada Homes for sharing their grounds with us! We’d like to thank Golda Cox, Ella Patrick and Coral Ann Schmid, our Judges for the Craft Fair. We’d also like to thank Pat Laursen and Caddie O’Hara, our judges for the Fashion Review and $20 Challenge. Lastly, a big thanks to our judge for the Talent Showcase, Cynthia Sellinger. The original score sheets for all of the contests are ready and here at the 4-H Office for Club Leaders to pick up and distribute.

Congratulations to both of our Talent Showcase participants! In the Junior Category, Jenna Cagle received a blue ribbon for her a vocal arts rendition of “The Climb”. In the Senior Category, Patrick Watkins received a blue ribbon for his vocal arts with keyboard accompaniment rendition of “Satisfied”. Patrick was also the overall winner for the Talent Showcase!

Congratulations to all three of our participants in the $20 Challenge Competition. Ta’von Tinsley and Kylie Austin looked wonderful in their outfits, and Madison Brown won a blue ribbon in the Junior Category. Madison was also the overall winner for the $20 Challenge Competition!

We’d like to give a big hand to all of our Fashion Review participants – Kylie Austin, Nina Haynes, Tatiana Argueta, Janice Ender, Sulema Haynes, Rebekah Sprinkle, Gloria McCarthy, Olivia Gilliland and Justine Haynes! The Junior blue ribbon winner was Sulema Haynes for her three-tiered skirt. The Senior blue ribbon winner was Justine Haynes for her three-tiered skirt. Sulema was also the overall winner for the Fashion Review!

The 2010 Craft Fair was another wonderful show! We’d like to recognize the following winners:

Kelsi Cartwright received a blue ribbon for her creative display “One Place Setting”. Rachel Sprinkle received a green ribbon for her drawing “My Favorite Things”. Nina Haynes received a green ribbon for her drawing “Midnight Flowers”. Nathan Sprinkle received a green ribbon for his drawing “Paper of Many Colors”. Caroline Gilliland received a green ribbon for her drawing of “Crayon”. William Gilliland received a green ribbon for his drawing of “Nature Scene”. Jenna Cagle received a blue ribbon for her drawing “Horse”. Ty Worley received a red ribbon for his drawing “Ropin Time”. Jabin Sprinkle received a white ribbon for his drawing “Veggie Tales”. Payton Duckett received a red ribbon for his drawing “Eldest”.

Allison Gilliland received a red ribbon for her hand stitchery “Candlewicking”.Kylie Austin received a green ribbon for her home furnishing “Photo Frame”. Seth Austin received a blue ribbon for his home furnishing “Clover Hook”.  Madison Brown Received a white ribbon for her jewelry “Friendship Bracelet”.  Rebekah Sprinkle received a red ribbon for her machine stitchery “Baby Bib”.  Seth Austin received a red ribbon for his metalwork “Horseshoe Cross”.

Kylie Austin received a green ribbon for her miscellaneous item “Frog Tote”. Sulema Haynes received a red ribbon for her miscellaneous item “Ben-A-Roos”. Jenna Cagle received a red ribbon for her miscellaneous item “Pretty Pot”. Madison Brown received a white ribbon for her miscellaneous item “Beaded 4-H Clover”.

Jenna Cagle received a blue ribbon for her photography “Picture Taken at Duke Gardens”. Ty Worley received a red ribbon for his photography “Bo”. Lane Worley received a red ribbon for his photography “Rodeo”. Kelsi Cartwright received a red ribbon for her photography “Photo”. Carter Brown received a blue ribbon for his photography “Winter Picture”. Payton Duckett received a red ribbon for his photography “Three Amigos”. Seth Austin received a blue ribbon for his photography “Picture of a Cow”.

Jamal Tinsley received a green ribbon for his pottery “Clay Vase”. Kylie Austin received a green ribbon for her pottery “Pot Bunny”. Ta’von Tinsley received a red ribbon for his pottery “Clay Vase”.  Madison Brown received a red ribbon for her quilting “Doll Quilt”.  Susannah Gilliland received a blue ribbon for her water color “Paining of a Butterfly”.  Kelsi Cartwright received a white ribbon for her wearable art “T-Shirt Painting”. Kirby Green received a blue ribbon for her wearable art “Leather Saddle Cross”.  Jamal Tinsley received a green ribbon for his wood “Birdhouse”. Lane Worley received a red ribbon for his wood “Lightening”. Ta’von Tinsley received a blue ribbon for his wood “Tool Bench”.

Jenna Cagle was the overall Craft Fair winner!
