Steve has told you all that it is fine to turn in Dutch Mill bulb and flower orders on March 11th at the County Council Meeting INSTEAD of the previous date of March 1st. Because of this an extension has been granted and orders can be turned in on March 11th under the knowledge that most likely bulb and flower orders will NOT arrive in time for Easter. If you have any concerns about this, please speak with Steve personally. Otherwise, please be sure to turn in all order forms the evening of March 11th.
We hope that you all have been out busy selling those Dutch Mill Flower flowers and bulbs over the last month and a half. For each sale made by a club, the club receives $1.50 and the County Council receives $1.50. The 4-H member who raises the most funds will receive a $25 Clover Cash Certificate. Also, last year there was some confusion as to how monies were to be submitted in accordance to the funds kept. In order to streamline things this year we are requesting that ALL monies collected be turned into the 4-H office and we will in turn issue each club a check for the amount raised ($1.50 per individual sale).
This has been a very positive and successful way for our 4-H County Council to raise funds in the past, and we hope to have another successful fundraiser this year. The proceeds that go to the County Council will be used to fund Clover Cash Certificates, leader scholarships to training and chaperoning events, partial scholarships for 4-H’ers to attend 4-H activities, and to help pay for some of the supplies for county 4-H activities.
The Dutch Mill Bulbs website can be accessed here and if you have any questions, you can e-mail or call Erin at any time. Thanks for all you do to help us “make the best better” here in Buncombe County!
