Our Buncombe County 4-H County Council met this past Monday to elect the new County Secretary, perform the installation ceremony to instate the new 2010 County Council Officers, and begin to plan for the 4-H Achievement Night in January.
Congratulations to Kirby Green who was elected to the Office of Secretary for the Buncombe County 4-H County Council! We are excited to have her on the Council this year and look forward to working with everyone to make 2010 an exciting 4-H year!
As planning is beginning for Achievement Night in January, we already have some ‘homework’ to attend to!
LEADERS – We are currently collecting names and addresses (physical addresses as well as email addresses) for anyone you feel should be invited to Achievement Night. This includes 4-H Alumni, prominent community leaders and representatives, 4-H relatives (we already have the contact information for all of the current 4-H’ers and leaders, so you will not be required to send this information), and anyone else you feel should be invited to this prestigious night. We are asking that a leader from each club be responsible for collecting this information and getting it to Erin at the 4-H office NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18th, 2009. Erin is requesting that this list be sent (firstname.lastname@example.org or dropped off at the 4-H Office burned to a disc) electronically and NOT in hard copy form. This will make it much easier to compile all of our invitees into one master list. This list will determine the number of invitations we will need to print, so please be sure to be thorough and on time!
4-H’ers – At the County Council Meeting Monday night, it was decided that this year’s theme will be Andy Griffith! Our County Council Members are currently working on a skit (or two) to be performed, and are also busy forming committee’s to help plan and execute Achievement Night. 4-H MEMBERS – WE NEED YOUR HELP WITH THESE COMMITTEES! There is a list of committees below and we are asking that you please sign up to be a part of one of them. 4-H Achievement Night is a very important night, and without a 4-H Agent helping us to organize it this year, we will need as much participation from you as we can get!
1. Set Up and Décor for the Main Sanctuary (where the formal Achievement ceremony/proceedings will take place)
2. Food Prep, Set Up and Décor for the Reception Hall (where the reception will take place immediately after the Achievement ceremony/proceedings)
3. Clean Up/Take Down at the end of Achievement Night
We are asking that all 4-H’ers (or their leaders) contact Erin (email@example.com or 828.255.5522) NO LATER THAN WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 18TH, 2009 to sign up for one of these committees. If you would like to participate in the Andy Griffith skit, or would like to volunteer to help make the set décor or costumes, please also mention this when signing up for committees. As mentioned above, we need all the help we can get!
ONE MORE THING… Like last year, we will again this year be requesting that each 4-H Club set up a booth/display to be set up at the reception. This booth should highlight your Club and the events, activities and milestones you participated in over the 2009 year. Please begin to think about creating your club booth ~ we’d really like to have all Clubs represented at the reception this year!
