NC State Livestock Judging Contest Results!

Congratulations to all of our 4-H’ers who traveled to Raleigh to compete in the 2009 North Carolina State 4-H Livestock Judging Contest on July 15, 2009.  Our Teams this year included the following:

Team A:  Seth Austin, Casey McAninch, Laura Nelon and Tucker Worley

Team B:  Erin Bishop, Jacob Bishop, Kelsi Cartwright and Dalton Cooper

Team C:  Carter Brown, Jordan McAninch, Ethan West and Rachel West

Publication1aThe 16 individual competitors represented Buncombe County extremely well and placed in the following categories:

In the Junior Individual Sheep category Michaela Lusk placed 3rd, Jacob Bishop placed 4th and Erin Bishop placed 6th.  Buncombe Team B placed 2nd in the Junior Team Sheep category.

In the Junior Individual Meat Goats category Seth Austin placed 1st, Laura Nelon placed 6th, Casey McAninch placed 7th, Kelsi Cartwright placed 8th and Dalton Cooper placed 10th.  Buncombe Team A placed 1st and Buncombe Team B placed 3rd in the Junior Team Meat Goats category.

In the Junior Individual Swine category Jacob Bishop placed 4th, Laura Nelon placed 5th and Casey McAninch placed 9th.  Buncombe Team A placed 2nd in the Junior Team Swine category.

In the Junior Individual Beef category Ethan West placed 1st and Laura Nelon placed 2nd.  Buncombe Team C placed 2nd in the Junior Team Beef category.

In the Junior Individual Oral Reasons category Jacob Bishop placed 5th, Ethan West placed 6th, Laura Nelon placed 8th and Casey McAninch placed 9th.  Buncombe Team A placed 3rd in the Junior Team Oral Reasons category.

The Junior Individual Overall placements were Laura Nelon in 1st place, Jacob Bishop in 6th place and Ethan West in 9th place!  The Junior Team Overall placements were Buncombe Team B in 2nd place, Buncombe Team A in 3rd place and Buncombe Team C in 5th place!  A job very well done by all of our Juniors!

In the Senior Individual competition, Bill Jones placed 4th in Senior Individual Sheep, 10th in Senior Individual Meat Goats, 3rd in Senior Individual Beef, 6th in Senior Individual Oral Reasons and 4th in Senior Individual Overall!  Great job Bill!

Congratulations are in order for these 4-H members, their parents and their leaders.  We are very proud of you all!
