Sign Up Now for 4-H Gardening Project!

The Buncombe County Extension Master Gardeners(SM) will again be co-sponsoring the Buncombe County 4-H Gardening Project.  If you want plants and seeds that the Master Gardeners provide, you need to let Erin Bonito (erin_bonito@ncsu.edu) know by Thursday, May 14th.  Otherwise, you can participate in the project, but you will need to provide your own plants.  Whether you provide your own plants or the Master Gardeners provide them, as long as you let us know you plan to participate in the project, an Extension Master Gardener will make two visits to your garden during the summer to check on your progress and give you helpful suggestions.

Plants and seeds for those who pre-register for the gardening project will be distributed at the Swannanoa 4-H Camp’s garden planting day, Saturday, May 30th.  We’ll be working out at the camp from 10 am until the garden is planted (and we’ll be planting a ceremonial tree in honor of the camp’s 80th birthday, so come out and join in the work and the fun!)

If you sign up for plants and seeds and can’t come to the camp on the 30th, your plants and seeds will be available at our office the following week.  However, if at all possible, we recommend that you pick them up at the camp so that you can get some planting and growing tips and get a little experience by helping plant the garden for the camp!  See you then!
