Our Buncombe County 4-H Craft Fair, Fashion Revue & Talent Showcase is scheduled for Saturday, April 18th at Eliada Home. Detailed guidelines, entry forms and deadline information about those 4-H contests have been posted to the 4-H Contests page of our Buncombe County 4-H Clover Connection webpage.
We are introducing a new contest this year along with our Fashion Revue–the $20 Challenge. With this contest we acknowledge that, although sewing is a very important skill to develop, it is not always the most cost-effective way of meeting our clothing needs. Therefore, 4-H’ers can enter this contest and model an outfit they put together by spending no more than $20. It can be purchased new (on sale) or from a thrift or consignment store. While it cannot be an outfit you pull from your closet and put together, it could be a “hand-me-down” outfit from a friend or relative. Entrants must provide receipts for the purchase of the outfits OR a signed statement from the friend or relative indicating that they did, in fact, gift the “gently worn” item to you. More details, as well as an entry form, should be on the 4-H Contests Page within the next couple of days.
